AI Lead Gen Offers, Mostly Nonsense

I am not sure how I got signed up for all of this, but I will tell you, once you start searching for how to use AI better in your business, your inbox and your feeds fill up completely with the nonsense. You know the pitch. You do not have to think anything up front, and they will be able to send you verified leads, five verified leads, five verified leads that could close.

Read that again. Could close. They leave it very loose on purpose. Dig into the actual words and they say it is going to happen, but it is not, it is all nonsense. The people selling it, especially the crowd that is not of my generation, they see what is coming and they are trying to get people. They use scarcity, they use cheap price points, they use this beautiful, horrible emotion-loaded offer to try to get you to sign up, try to get your email address, and of course, get you to sign up.

Where Is The Actual Traffic Behind These Offers?

Here is the part most people never check. The people producing these videos are taking that same video and putting it on Meta, putting it on Instagram, or putting it on Google pay-per-click, which is not as popular as it used to be. But rarely are they building organic traffic behind it. They are not putting any weight behind fifty different blog posts that talk about the offer in different ways, presenting it differently to try to attract people. Even that, if they are handwriting it, is one thing. If they are using AI to generate it, it might be a dead end. It just depends on how good their process is at cleaning it all up. I do not know exactly how it got to be this common of a trend, but I went and did some investigation, because there are some real things mixed into all of it.

The Bigger Version: AI Agency And AI Arbitrage

Same pattern, bigger number attached to it. Why would you want to make $2,500 a month when you can make $10,000 a month? All you need to do is start your own AI agency or AI arbitrage. Some of it might be real. Most of it is AI nonsense, and you need to parse it out. If you are confused, if you are about to slide into one of these, stop before you sign anything.

How To Actually Check One Of These Offers

Here is what I would do, and what I do. You are using AI already, so use it here. Take the link to whatever is being offered and stick it in your own AI. Ask it to tell you the secret sauce behind what is actually being offered. It will look it up if it has that connectivity to Instagram or YouTube or wherever the pitch lives. If it does not have that connectivity, you can still get there. Make a recording of it, produce a transcript, plug it into a tool like Loom, or take the video with the audio, extract the audio out, and run it through the same process. Either way, you can take that back to your favorite large language model, typically a frontier model, one of the big ones, and get a real answer instead of a sales pitch.

That also means you are taking the money you were about to spend in their pocket and applying that same effort yourself instead. Do that, and you are going to see 80 to 90 percent of the time, this is nonsense. The rest of the time, it is not nonsense, but it is still mostly built to get your information, your personal information. It is all promise, no delivery.

The Bottom Line

Protect yourselves. Before you hand over your email for five verified leads that could close, or before you sign up to build your own AI agency because a headline promised you $10,000 a month, run the offer through your own AI first and read the actual words, not the headline. That single step will save you more money and more time than most of what these people are selling you in the first place.
